href=\"https:\/\/www.ris.bka.gv.at\/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&amp;Gesetzesnummer=20003541\">Art. 18 para. 6 in conjunction with Art. 18a para. 1 of the Austrian Animal Welfare Act<\/a>. <strong>It serves as a central agency providing information and assessment in animal welfare.<\/strong> Its location on the grounds of the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna enables professional exchange with veterinary experts, particularly with regard to animal husbandry and animal welfare, at any given time.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" ><h5><strong>Assessment of animal housing systems and stable facilities as well as pet accommodations and pet accessories:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The role of the Austrian Animal Welfare Centre is to check that animal housing systems and stable facilities, pet accommodations and pet accessories as well as other technical equipment used in husbandry and pet keeping are in compliance with the Austrian Animal Welfare Act.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ris.bka.gv.at\/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&amp;Gesetzesnummer=20003541\">Article 18 para. 7 of the Austrian Animal Welfare Act<\/a> stipulates the mandatory examination of all new types of mass-produced housing systems and new types of technical equipment for keeping animals before they are offered on the Austrian market. New types of products are defined as any that were not in use in animal husbandry in Austria prior to March 2012 (date of entry into force of the Animal Welfare Centre\/Husbandry System Regulation) or that differ, either as a whole or in their individual components, from existing systems or equipment, thus changing their functional areas of use or their use by animals.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ris.bka.gv.at\/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&amp;Gesetzesnummer=20003541\">Art. 18 para. 8 of the Austrian Animal Welfare Act<\/a> also provides for a voluntary examination of products. Numerous companies take this opportunity to have their products examined and labelled with the Animal Welfare Label to offer their customers safety and legal certainty.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-95ngf-c368f9b7b36849d6b6c92a655aa95c0c\">\n.flex_column.av-95ngf-c368f9b7b36849d6b6c92a655aa95c0c{\nborder-radius:0px 0px 0px 0px;\npadding:0px 0px 0px 0px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='flex_column av-95ngf-c368f9b7b36849d6b6c92a655aa95c0c av_one_half  avia-builder-el-7  el_after_av_one_half  avia-builder-el-last  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding  '     ><section  class='av_textblock_section av-kffgcwlp-2-732c73e45c57f68fea9af19b4fcd1506 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h5><strong>Examination and assessment of documents and training material<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>On behalf of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sozialministerium.at\/\">Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection<\/a> or third parties, the Austrian Animal Welfare Centre, as a central information and assessment agency, is also authorised to assess e.g. training material, training courses etc. and write expert reports within the meaning of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ris.bka.gv.at\/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&amp;Gesetzesnummer=20003541\">Art. 18a para. 2 and 5 of the Animal Welfare Act<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-ltxdr-3-d433fb928313b2d8cebae681fc015752\">\n#top .hr.hr-invisible.av-ltxdr-3-d433fb928313b2d8cebae681fc015752{\nheight:30px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='hr av-ltxdr-3-d433fb928313b2d8cebae681fc015752 hr-invisible  avia-builder-el-9  el_after_av_textblock  el_before_av_textblock '><span class='hr-inner '><span class=\"hr-inner-style\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-kffgcwlp-1-49fc6f0d23cd05b54d40c9075eff83ce '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h5><strong>Further tasks:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The duties of the Austrian Animal Welfare Centre include the collecting and keeping of scientific and legal fundamental documents as well as the preparation of manuals and checklists on issues of animal welfare.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore the Austrian Animal Welfare Centre is authorised to produce, publish and distribute printed publications, sound and image carriers and other data storage media, replicas as well as other items that are directly connected with its activities and can also host specialist training, basic training and advanced training events.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sozialministerium.at\/en.html\">Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection<\/a>, the Austrian Animal Welfare Centre acts as the National Contact Point on the basis of Art. 20, <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/ALL\/?uri=CELEX:32009R1099\">Council Reg.
