Practical examinations

In accordance with Art. 8 FstHVO, the Austrian Animal Welfare Centre has to publish suitable facilities for the performance of more extensive practical examinations after approval by the Federal Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection.

It is necessary to carry out a more extensive practical examination of a product if there is insufficient information on animal welfare aspects so that the Austrian Animal Welfare Centre cannot perform the evaluation and the preparation of the expert opinion. The performance of the practical examination by an official inspection body should provide the lacking information.

Institutions interested in the performance of practical examinations (Art. 8 FstHVO) can find the details in the guideline “Details zur Durchführung der Prüfung“. To register as an official inspection body, the application form must be completed and sent to the Austrian Animal Welfare Centre together with the enclosures.
